Steph & Eric’s Romantic Wedding at the Matara Centre, Cotswolds.

Steph & Eric

Steph and Eric’s wedding at The Matara Centre was the definition of classic English summer romance. Set amongst beautiful gardens and rolling Gloucestershire countryside, their day combined a traditional church ceremony with the relaxed, slightly unconventional character of Matara. The result felt elegant and romantic, but never overly formal.

The ceremony took place at the beautiful Kingscote Church, just a short walk from The Matara Centre. Guests wandered through the gardens and countryside to and from the church, which gave the whole day such a wonderfully relaxed feel. There was something quintessentially English about everyone making their way through the greenery on a warm summer’s day before returning to Matara for the celebrations.

Steph and Eric’s style suited the setting perfectly. Steph’s flowing gown and veil looked incredible against the gardens and wild landscape, while Eric’s brown double breasted suit brought a warm, contemporary feel to the day. We kept their portraits relaxed and largely unstructured, wandering through the grounds and making the most of the light as we found it.

This is exactly the balance I love in wedding photography. Allowing most of the day to unfold naturally and documenting the people, atmosphere and moments as they actually happen, with just enough direction when needed to create something a little more considered. Some of my favourite photographs came from simply giving Steph and Eric space to be together, alongside a handful of more editorial portraits and beautiful golden evening light beneath Steph’s veil.
